Dear Mr. Francisco de Asis Fernandez,

meanwhile I safely got back and like to say thank you for inviting me. Beeing guest in your country I deeply was impressed by the efforts you make to keep on with poetry as a symbol of staying alive at all. I appreciated very much your call for independency and the right for freedom of arts. Otherwise I would not have liked to be part of it. It was a great pleasure meeting you – I wish you the best and will get back to you as soon as I am ready to do the suggestion for another poet from Germany you were asking for. Yesterday I happened to meet with a German actress, I had not known before. She already is an old lady. Sitting together in a car in Berlin, moving forward to a little discussion, I told her about my visit in Nicaragua and she immediately remembered a poem by Gioconda Belli which she had known for years by heart. So in a way the Nicaraguan poems I could not leave behind me they followed me – please pass on my regards to Mrs Belli too.

Best,
Esther Dischereit
